We do understand that plans change and things go wrong. If you book but cancel well in advance, no problem, we will accept this and charge no penalty. However, if you leave this to the last minute and/or don’t show, we would have turned away numerous bookings and will therefore end up with an empty bed.

Payment requirements
We request that guests pay 50% of the invoice at the time of booking. This can either be done online through our secure payment option, via electronic funds transfer (internet banking) or by credit card.
Peak season payments
For all December/January bookings, special long weekends and busy sport-weekends, we ask for 100% payment in advance.
What if you cancel?
1. If you cancel any booking, provided this is not nearer than one week, or seven days from arrival, we will refund your deposit in full. As far as the peak season goes, we require thirty days notice of cancellation for a guest to qualify for a full refund.
2. Should a cancellation be requested that is less than the abovementioned seven days but more than 48 hours from arrival, guests will forfeit their deposit but not be held responsible for the full amount due. In the case of peak season bookings, the same rule applies but the period becomes fourteen days instead of 48 hours.
3. No cancellations will be accepted after 48 hours before arrival in the case of normal bookings or fourteen days before arrival in the case of peak season bookings. Guest will be held accountable for the full amount of the booking.
NO SHOWS ARE 100% LIABLE FOR THE FULL BOOKING CHARGES
Other important information
- All our rooms are non-smoking rooms. Guests wishing to smoke must please do this outside/in the areas provided. Guests who do smoke in their rooms WILL BE CHARGED an additional R500 dry cleaning and fumigation charges.
- ARRIVAL TIMES ARE: 14H30-19H00 and departure times before 10h30 each day are strictly adhered to. If you would like to arrive or depart outside of these hours we will try and assist on request. Be advised that in order to serve fresh breakfasts daily, we rise at 05h30! and cannot accept late arrivals without prior notification so that we can rest as well.
- NOISE: All our guests enjoy a quiet environment. We reserve the right to cancel all bookings for guests who disturb other guests after 10h00 at night.
- SWIMMING POOL: Due to the swimming pool being open to the rooms, we DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN OF eight or less UNLESS the parents approve this and are comfortable the children can swim. All children (of any age) enter the premises at the risk of the parents and the owners of Riverbend will accept no responsibility for the safety of children.
- Linen and towels: (i) Guests are to bring their own towels for swimming/beach and requested not to use room towels (ii) Any stains on bedding and towels (for example make-up) will incur an additional cost of R 200 for specialised cleaning.
Disclaimer: We reserve our right to change this policy as and when we deem necessary and to make indulgences as we deem fit without this being interpreted as a change in policy.
AGENT BOOKINGS: When payments are delayed from Travel and other agents for more than seven days from occupation then the visitor will be held personally responsible for this payment and we reserve the right to charge an administration fee of R 150 per booking for any collection delays.
As a small business, guests benefit from rates lower than a Hotel of a similar standard. This said, we do not offer 24/7 service and we ask that you adhere to our arrival and departure times.
You are welcome to invite a guest/s to visit. Kindly arrange this with us and we will manage access. Charges will be applicable for any guest visiting after 21h00 without prior arrangements.
